SSC offers Assistant post in the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) to the candidates who successfully qualify the Common Graduate Level (CGL) written examination. It is another Group 'B' Non-gazetted post offered by SSC in the Government departments, for which thousands of aspiring candidates apply every year. Some essential information about this post is as follows: -
a. The Assistant, in CVC, is associated with vigilance activity under the central government to carry out planning, execution, review and reforms of the vigilance work performed by the commission.

CVC is a premiere agency under the Government of India in addressing the increased government officials corruption and curbing the same. Few important facts are as follows:-
a. It was established in the year 1964, with an autonomous status of its own and free from any control of any executive authority.
b. The commission is responsible for monitoring all the vigilance activities and advise various authorities under central government organization in planning, execution, reviewing and reforming the vigilance work.

Job Profile of Assistant in CVC
The candidates joining in CVC as Assistant would have to work like all other assistant posts in other departments offered under SSC CGL. The headquarters of CVC is in New Delhi and the candidates joining as assistants need to undergo desk job with a heap of file to address initially, where he is supposed to do the following tasks.
a. They need to undergo many clerical grade works at this level and prepare many files, reports and sorting out important information for the senior officials.
b. The post doesn’t allow candidates to take decisions on their own in any matter at the department and thus they need to constantly report on any new finding to their seniors for the initial period of their career.
c. They generally report to their Group 'A' senior officers in the department. There are a few offices of CVC suffer from shortage of employees and thus the work load and paperwork can be mounted heavily. But good performance and dedicated work can lead candidates to get higher posts quickly.
Pay Scale and perks for the CVC-Assistant
The candidates are paid in the pay band II (Rs. 9300- 34800/-) with Grade pay of Rs. 4600/- for the post. The initial take home salary of the candidates is Rs. 40000/- pm. Which would include HRA, DA, TA and other allowances.
Promotion Policy of Assistant in CVC
The job in the CVC generally includes desk and files related works and there are fixed hours along with chances of postings in New Delhi headquarters, which makes it a preferable choice among the aspiring candidates. The candidates also have a good prospect of getting promoted in the commission as well.
- After 7-8 years of their services the candidates could get posted as Section Officers.
- In another 2-3 years’ time they can start getting up the ladder fast. They can get up to the post of Under Secretary real quick.
- Candidates after a considerable span in the department can even rankssssss as high as Deputy Secretary and Director. With each subsequent promotion the decision making ability and power of the posts increase in the department and puts the candidates in position of authority.
