Retired bureaucrat Krishna Mohan Sahni was appointed Chairman of the National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (NMCE) on 12 November 2013. His appointment was approved by the Forward Markets Commission, the commission which is responsible for regulating the commodities markets in India.
In the meanwhile, two former Gujarat Chief Secretaries, Pravin K. Laheri and Sudhir G. Mankad joined as independent directors on the NMCE board.

• He was the Union Labour and Employment Secretary during 2004-2006 before he superannuated on 31 December 2006.
About National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (NMCE)
• National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (NMCE) is the first demutualised commodity exchange of India which was granted permanent recognition by the Union Government of India in 1990s.
• NMCE started with the futures trading in 24 commodities on 26 November 2002.
