Laxmi Ratan Shukla announced retirement from all forms of cricket

Sukhla’s announcement came two days after he was named in the Bengal squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy starting on 2 January 2016.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla, former Indian cricketer and Bengal all-rounder, on 30 December 2015 announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. However, he might continue playing for his club Mohun Bagan.

Sukhla’s announcement came two days after he was named in the Bengal squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy starting on 2 January 2016.

About Laxmi Ratan Shukla

Born on 6 May 1981, Shukla made his first-class debut in 1997-98, soon after representing India at the Under-19 World Cup.

He made his international debut in Singapore in 1999, and played three ODIs in all.

He has had a wonderful domestic career for Bengal which lasted for around 18 years since his first class debut.

He was the brightest performer as Bengal won its first Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2012. In the group stage match against Jharkhand at Eden Gardens, he scored 151 (Not Out) from 96 balls. In the final against Mumbai, he scored 106 (Not Out) from 90 balls.

He was made the captain of Bengal in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2013.

He also played for IPL franchises Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He was born in Howrah, West Bengal.

He completed his schooling at Shree Hanumaan Jute Mill Hindi High School and the Don Bosco High & Technical School, Liluah.
