The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released an official notice today, March 16, 2026, on the Second Board Examination for Class 10th examinations in May 2026. The development was released to align the board structure based on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. It allows students who appeared in the first exam to improve their scores in up to three main subjects, including Science, Math, Social Science, and other languages.
In order to avail this system, schools must submit a List of Candidates (LOC) in advance. Principals will need to inform the students and their parents and/or guardians about the rules, eligibility, schedule, fees, and the possibility of non-nearby centers. Students who passed or have a 'Compartment' result are eligible, but those who failed in three or more subjects or have an 'Essential Repeat' (ER) are not. No changes to Internal Assessment marks are allowed, and the examination will use the same syllabus as the first board exam.
