Chhattisgarh Revises School Academic Calendar, Session To Run From April 1 To March 31 From 2027-28

Chhattisgarh School Academic Session Revised: The Chhattisgarh government has announced major reforms in the school academic session. As per the new changes, the session will now run from April 1 and continue till March 31, starting from the 2027-2028 academic year. The revised academic calendar aims to address disruptions caused by delayed admissions, distribution of educational material.

Under the previous academic system, Classes began on June 16 and after which, admissions and other procedures like books, uniforms and bicycle distribution took place and impacted students’ studies. With the new session starting in April, all such procedures will be followed within the same month, allowing students to efficiently resume with their new session after summer break.

Impossible To Complete Syllabus On Time, Says School Education Minister On Previous Acadmic Schedule

Chhattisgarh School Education Minister, Gajendra Yadav, to news agency IANS said, in the earlier schedule, Classes began on June 15 and the admission process took place between June 15 and July 30, 2026. This brought hindrance in timely completion of syllabus on time and led to a rushed approach for studies later on.

"Previously, in government schools, classes would begin on June 15, yet children would remain occupied with the admission process from June 15 through July 30. This caused academic work to lag, making it impossible to complete the syllabus on time and forcing a rushed approach to studies later on.” Yadav said.

The School Education Minister added that, accordingly, we have decided to conduct the school admissions in April for a smooth teaching process when the schools reopen.

“Therefore, we have decided that admissions should take place at the beginning of April, so that actual teaching can commence immediately when schools open on June 16." Yadav added.

Will Chhatisarsh School Summer Vacation Schedule Also Change?

Students must note that there will not be any change in the summer vacation schedule. In accordance with the previous time table, schools will observe summer break from May 1 to June 15 after a month of Classes. The session will resume on June 16, 2026.
