Raksha Gopal from Amity International School in Noida topped in CBSE Class 12 Result 2017. She scored 99.6% and secured all India rank 1. She scored 100 out of 100 marks in English Core, Political Science, Economics and 99 out of 100 marks in History & Psychology. In an interview; she shared her success story and exam preparation strategy. Main highlights of the interview are given below.
When she was asked about her strategy to be the topper of CBSE Class 12 board exam 2017, she told interviewers that her plan was not to secure top grades it was to do well in CBSE board exams. So, she focused well on her subjects and solved as many papers as she can.

She also added that her school teachers helped a lot in her board exam preparation. They chalked out the complete strategy for the preparation of CBSE Class 12 board exams 2017 and provide lots of sample paper which helped her to achieve the success.
When she was asked about the marks moderation policy then she said it is totally unfair to those students who studied harder for the exam. Giving 1 to 2 marks to students is good but giving 15 to 20 extra marks is totally unfair.
When interviewers asked her about reactions of her parents she said that they are very happy. She told the interviewer that she expected good result but being an all India topper was beyond expectation.
When she was asked if she will prepare for IAS then she told the interviewer that IAS will be an option but she is not thinking about it right now. She also added that she wants to do Political Science (Honours) so after taking admission in a college she will set her priorities.
HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar also congratulated her over the phone. When she was asked about the conversation she told that he was happy and proud that someone from liberal art topped in CBSE board exams and encouraged her to pursue her dreams.
When she was asked about the preparation tips she wants to give for future board aspirants, then she share some important tips which are given below:
1. Focus only on the board exams as board exams not come every year. Students should stay away from the social media websites as these only distract students from their study.
2. Structure of answer is very important to score good marks in board exams. Therefore, they should focus on the structure of answer used by Board Toppers’.
3. Solving previous years’ paper is must. It helps them to understand the pattern and difficulty level. It also helps in brushing up their knowledge.
4. Students should not study continuously for long hours. They should take proper rest in between their study hours.
CBSE Class 12 board exams were held from 09th March 2017 to 29th April 2017 and CBSE Class 12 Result was declared on 28th May 2017. This year, the second rank is secured by science student Bhumi Sawant who scored 99.4%. Commerce students, Mannat Luthra and Aditya Jain jointly secured the third rank, having scored 99.2%.
When compared with previous year data, a decrease of 1.03 % in overall pass percentage was observed in CBSE Class 12 result 2017. However, overall pass percentage of girls in CBSE 12th board exam result 2017 was better than boys by 9.5%.
