This is the very first time that the Union Public Service is conducting the ‘Preliminary examinations for the Indian Forest Service Examination. The preliminary examination will stand common both for the Civil Services Examination and the Indian Forest Service Examination .
The purpose of having a common prelims examination is so that it acts as a screening operandi for the selection of candidates for the Civil Services (Main) Examination and the Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination.
The examinations will be held at centers across India in alliance with the rules of Civil Services Examination notified already.

Candidates are required to apply via the online mode (UPSC website). There is no other mode available for the submission of the application.
Candidates can start filling the online application from 5 March 2013 and conclude by 4 April 2013 (Latest by 11: 59 pm).

The Union Public Service Commission will soon be holding the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2013 on 26 May 2013.
