The JEE Main cut-off for JEE Advanced 2025 qualification will depend on factors like exam difficulty, number of test-takers, and overall performance. Based on recent trends, the general category cutoff is estimated to be between 93 to 95 percentile (approximately 85–90 marks out of 300).

The cutoff for OBC-NCL and EWS candidates is expected to be slightly lower, around 91 to 93 percentile (approximately 80–85 marks). For SC candidates, the cutoff is likely to be between 82 to 86 percentile, and for ST candidates, between 73 to 80 percentile, which translates to roughly 50 to 65 marks for these categories. PwD candidates are expected to have a lower cutoff, around 40 to 45 percentile.

NTA scores are calculated using a normalization process that takes into account the relative performance of all examinees within a given session. This ensures that scores are comparable across multiple sessions. Raw marks are converted to a standardized scale ranging from 0 to 100 for each session.

As many as 12 questions have been dropped by NTA in JEE Main session 1 exam. For those dropped questions, four marks were awarded to all candidates who appeared for the test in those shifts of the exam.

The JEE Main question paper comprises two sections: A and B. Each subject includes both these sections. Section A consists of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs), while Section B contains questions that require numerical value answers. Incorrect answers in both sections carry negative marking. Each correct answer is awarded four marks, and one mark is deducted for every incorrect answer.
