Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) conducts National Standard Examination in Junior Science for students studying below Class 10th. Through NSE, students are shortlisted for next level of International Olympiad in Junior Science i.e. Indian National Olympiad in Junior Science (INO JS). The NSE Junior Science exam is based on science and mathematics till Class 10th syllabus as prescribed by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Eligibility Criteria for NSE Junior Science:
- Only Indian Students are resident of India and are studying in recognised Schools of state or central board of education
- They must be between 14-15 years of age in the examination year
- They should not have completed or studying in class 10th board examination before 30 November as in the year of examination
- The students must not be appearing in any of NSEA, NSEB, NSEC or NSEP in the same year of examination

Application Process for NSE Junior Science:
- The eligible students can apply for National Standard Examination in Junior Science through their School at their nearest IAPT registered regional centres only
- They have to pay an application fee of Rs. 100 (in cash) at the time of registration
Exam Pattern for NSE Junior Science:
Exam Timings – 10:00 am to 12:00 pm (tentative)
Duration of Exam – Two hours
Test paper Level/ Syllabus – CBSE prescribed syllabus till Class 10th
Test medium– English and Hindi
Type of questions – Multiple choices based questions
Subjects – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics
Total number of questions – 80
Total Marks – 240 marks
Marking Scheme – 3 marks of each question and -1 mark for each incorrect attempt
