The UPSC CAPF assistant commandant written exam syllabus will consist of two papers, i.e., paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 will have 250 marks and will contain questions about general ability and intelligence. The questions in this paper will be of the objective type. However, Paper 2 will be of 200 marks and will contain questions from general studies, essays and comprehension.

- The UPSC CAPF written exam pattern comprises two papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2.
- Paper 1 contains Objective questions. Questions asked in Paper 2 will be descriptive in nature.
- The medium of Paper 1 is English as well as Hindi.
- In Paper 2, candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi, but the medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components, and other communications/ language skills will be English only.
- There shall be a negative marking of 1/3rd mark for every incorrect answer in Paper 1, whereas there is no negative marking in Paper 2
