Donald Trump has won as the 47th President of the US, securing 276 electoral votes, surpassing the required 270-vote threshold. He defeated Kamala Harris. According to the US Constitution, a person can be elected president a maximum of two times, giving Trump a second term.

Indian Navy successfully organised the 3rd edition of Ocean Summit, continuing its flagship outreach initiative for maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). In this conference, representatives from 10 countries discussed collaborative efforts.

The Punjab government has increased dearness allowance (DA) for state employees and pensioners by 4%, which will be effective from November 1. After this increase, DA will increase from 38% to 42%. This will benefit more than 6.5 lakh employees and pensioners, providing them additional financial support before Diwali. The current Chief Minister of Punjab is Bhagwant Mann.

4. (b) For renewable and new energy initiatives

Maharatna PSUs NTPC and ONGC have partnered to form a 50:50 joint venture company (JVC) to promote renewable and new energy initiatives through their subsidiaries, NTPC Green Energy Limited and ONGC Green Energy Limited. This joint venture will work on various renewable energy options such as solar, wind, energy storage, green hydrogen, green ammonia, sustainable aviation fuel and e-mobility.

5. (b) Live Action Short Film

Kannada short film 'Sunflowers Were the First Ones to Know' directed by Chidanand S Naik has secured its place at the 2025 Oscars in the Live Action Short Film category. Produced by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), the film had won the first prize at the La Cinéfe Selection of the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
