David Beckham on 20 December 2010 was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year 2010. David Robert Joseph Beckham, an English footballer currently plays midfield for the Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer team. Beckham have been previously associated with popular football clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Milan. On the international front, Beckham made his England debut on 1 September 1996. He was made captain of the England football team from 15 November 2000 till the 2006 FIFA World Cup finals during which he played a total of 58 times. He earned a much-publicised hundredth cap against France on 26 March 2008 and went on to become the all-time outfield player appearance record holder on 28 March 2009. In 2004 was the world's highest-paid footballer. Beckham was the first British footballer to play 100 Champions League matches. David Beckham is married to Victoria Beckham (Adams), who belonged to the Spice Girl band.
