Indra Mani Pandey appointed as India’s Permanent Representative to United Nations, Geneva

Indra Mani Pandey currently has been serving as an additional secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and is expected to take up his new position shortly.

Indra Mani Pandey has been appointed as the next Permanent Representative/Ambassador of India to the United Nations, Geneva.

Mr. Indra Mani Pandey is a 1990 batch Indian Foreign Service Officer. He will succeed Rajiv K Chander by becoming a permanent representative to the UN in Geneva.

Mr. Pandey currently has been serving as an additional secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). As per the Ministry, Mr. Pandey is expected to take up his new position in the United Nations shortly.

Role as a new Permanent Representative to the UN:

Indra Mani Pandey as a new Permanent Representative to the United Nations will be responsible for representing India in more than 25 important organisations of the UN in Geneva. These organisations will be the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), World Health Organisation (WHO), and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Apart from them, he will also represent India at International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and some other essential some other UN bodies.

About Indra Mani Pandey:

In his nearly three-decade career, Mr. Pandey has served in Indian missions in Cairo, Islamabad, Geneva, Kabul, and Muscat.

Indra Mani Pandey has also served as a Joint Secretary in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division of the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi.
