J&K becomes first state to issue highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat scheme

In Jammu and Kashmir 60 percent families having at least one Ayushman Bharat golden card which is highest in the country.

The people of Jammu and Kashmir have expressed their positive attitude towards government schemes by adopting Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) at a large scale. Jammu and Kashmir has become the first state to distribute the highest number of golden cards under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY).

In a recent development, more than 11 lakhs of golden cards have been issued under AB-PMJAY within 90 days of the launch of the scheme. As per the government estimate, In Jammu and Kashmir 60 percent families having at least one golden card which is highest in the country. A function was organized at Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of the first anniversary of the launch of AB-PMJAY.

Ayushman Bharat in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir 126 public, 29 private hospitals and a total of 155 hospitals have been empanelled under Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. The objective of this scheme is to provide cashless and free health benefits to the entitled beneficiaries. According to the Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) 6.30 lakh poor and vulnerable families of Jammu and Kashmir are entitled to it. On the occasion, it was also informed that claims amounting 14 cr rupees have been already settled and the government is getting more registration under the scheme.

Salient Features of Ayushman Bharat Scheme

• A defined benefit covers of Rs. 5 lakh per family per year under Ayushman Bharat - National Health Protection Mission.
• The beneficiaries can avail benefits in both private and public empanelled hospitals.
• One of the major features of the scheme is that benefits are portable across the country. It means the beneficiary can avail the benefits across the country.
• Central Government will transfer the funds from Ayushman Bharat account through an escrow account directly.
• States/ UTs can decide to implement the scheme through an insurance company or directly through the Trust/ Society or use an integrated model.
