Microsoft Corporation appointed of ex-Oracle chief Bhaskar Pramanik as the chairman for Microsoft India on 28 March 2011. Pramanik will report to Jean-Philippe Courtois, President of Microsoft International. Pramanik will oversee Microsoft's sales, marketing and services subsidiary,provide overall leadership on all Microsoft assets in India.
Bhaskar Pramanik has previously worked with Oracle India as Managing Director. He served as Sun Microsystem’s Managing Director for 13 years. Pramanik was responsible for growing Sun Microsystems' business in India from under $20 million to over $200 million in six years.
Microsoft in India has more than 5300 employees in its two campuses and thirteen offices across the country. It is the largest employee base outside of the US for Microsoft, and its six business units including research, product development, consulting services, sales and marketing services, Microsoft IT, and global technical support services represent the complete Microsoft product lifecycle.
