Union Government to launch 'Ganga Gram' project

The Union Government is going to launch the 'Ganga Gram' project at the Ganga Gram Swachata Sammelan in New Delhi on 23 December 2017.

The project, which is a part of the government’s clean Ganga mission - Namami Gange, is an integrated approach for the holistic development of villages situated on the banks of the holy river with the active participation of villagers.

The project envisages solid and liquid waste management, renovation of ponds and water resources, water conservation projects, organic farming, horticulture and promotion of medicinal plants.

Rohit Sharma hits fastest T20I century, equals world record

Indian batsman, Rohit Sharma equalled David Miller's record for the fastest century in T20 format by hitting a 35-ball hundred in the second T20I against Sri Lanka in Indore on 22 December 2017.

Sharma also became the first Indian to score two tons in T20Is. His knock of 118 (43 balls) was studded with 10 sixes and 12 boundaries. It was part of an incredible opening partnership with KL Rahul as the duo put up more than 150 runs in 12 overs.

Sharma had recently also scored a record-setting 3rd ODI double century against Sri Lanka.

Salman Khan tops Forbes India Celebrity 100 list for 2nd year

Indian superstar Salman Khan has topped the 2017 Forbes India Celebrity 100 list rankings for the second year in a row.

The rankings are based on estimates of entertainment-related earnings of celebrities. The 51-year-old took home about Rs 232.83 crore in the period between 1 October 2016 and 30 September 2017, which were backed by endorsements of several brands.

Shah Rukh Khan who was ranked at number two, again for the second year in a row, has been estimated to take home about Rs 170.5 crore in the same period. He was followed by the newly married Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, whose estimated earning during the period was about Rs 100.72 crore.
