Mamata Banerjee in the Railway Budget 2011 that was presented in the Lok Sabha on 25 February 2011 provided for significant concessions. The concessions as highlighted in the budget are as follows:


•    The Railway Budget 2011 proposed to extend concessions to the physically handicapped persons in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains as well. At present physically handicapped persons are not entitled for concessions on Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains.
•    Press correspondents are currently entitled to avail 50% concession with family once in a year. The budget proposed to increase this facility to twice a year.
•    The budget proposed to extend the facility of travelling in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains to the Kirti and Shaurya Chakra awardees.
•    The budget proposed that in case of unmarried posthumous Param Vir Chakra and Ashok Chakra gallantry award winners of armed forces the facility of card passes should be extended to parents.
•    At present the concession for senior citizens is extended to both men and women at 60 years of age. The budget proposed to reduce the age in case of women to 58 years. The budget proposed to increase concession from 30% to 40% in case of men.
