Online marketplace Snapdeal.com on 15 December 2015 launched its mobile website in Hindi and Telugu language. With this platform, Snapdeal will now cater to 270 million users in India.
The multilingual platform will be made available to users on the mobile website only. This platform goes hand in hand with Snaplite platform, which allows users to access the mobile website in areas where internet connectivity is poor. Snaplite is Snapdeal’s website for mobile browser.
Based on the experience and customer feedback, the company will plan to roll the multilingual platform to other platforms such as the mobile app as well as its desktop website.
Snapdeal also expects to reach out to an additional 130 million smartphone users in India by launching its mobile platform in 11 regional languages such as Hindi, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Assamese and Punjabi by 26 January 2016.
