From September 2010 those who subscribe for DTH services would be able to opt for a number of channels of their liking by a paying a minimum of Rs 150 per month.

From September 2010 those who subscribe for DTH services would be able to opt for a number of channels of their liking by a paying a minimum of Rs 150 per month. Broadcast regulator TRAI in its tariff order for 2010 included provisions to protect the consumers from rise in rates. It specified that there would be no increase in subscription charges in the first six months of enrolling. However the rates can be decreased in those six months and the consumer could choose any other service provided by the DTH operators. The composition of the channels should also be the same as those for the normal cable subscribers.
