Senior JD(U) leader Uday Narain Choudhary was on 2 December 2010 elected unanimously for the second consecutive term as Speaker of Bihar assembly. His election to the post was announced by the pro-tem Speaker Sadanand Singh in the state assembly. The minister for water resources Vijay Kumar Choudhary had proposed Choudhury’s name for the post the proposal was seconded by road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav. The resolution was passed by voice vote with opposition MLAs deciding not to oppose it.
Nitish Kumar was sworn in as the Bihar Chief Minister on 26 November 2010 following his victory in the Bihar elections.
