Former Union Minister Uma Bharti had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 26, 2020. She had herself tweeted about her testing positive for the infection late on Saturday night.

The National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh on September 28. Ever since the leader had tweeted about her COVID report, the AIIMS management had made arrangements for her admission. Uma Bharti's condition is said to be stable, as per an official from the hospital.

Bharti herself had informed through a tweet that she had been shifted to AIIMS  from Vande Mataram Kunj in Pauri Garhwal district where she was under home-isolation. She tweeted saying that there are three reasons for her being shifted to the hospital, first being that Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan was worried about her health condition, second being that her fever had spiked the night before that and third being that if she gets a good response from doctors at AIIMS after observation then she said that she would want to appear before the CBI court in Lucknow.

Uma Bharti is supposed to appear before the court in connection with the Babri Masjid demolition case. As per AIIMS Rishikesh Public Relations Officer, Harish Mohan Thapliyal, Bharti was admitted to the hospital around 11 am on Monday and has been kept under observation. As per protocol, the hospital has sent her sample for an RT-PCR test and till then, the doctors are taking care of her and she is being treated. Thapliyal further stated that the future course of action will be decided after they receive her test results.

Uma Bharti had self isolated herself at an ashram in Pauri Garhwal district after she had tested positive for COVID-19 on September 25, 2020. Prior to that, she had visited the Badrinath shrine in Chamoli district on September 24 and the Kedarnath shrine on September 21.
