Chief Minister of Uttarakhand officially declared 9 September as Himalaya Diwas to spread the message of conservation of the Himalayan ecosystems.

Uttarakhand Government officially declared 9 September as Himalaya Diwas. The state will celebrate Himalaya Diwas to spread the message of conservation of the Himalayan ecosystems.

The Himalayan day was declared on 9 September 2014 by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Harish Rawat on the proposal of a senior BJP leader Ajay Bhatt, who is also the leader of the opposition in the state assembly. Rawat in his declaration announced that from 2015 onwards, the state government would celebrate the day.


To mark the day, rallies and seminars were organised in various places across the state.
