UK writer Douglas Stuart won the UK Booker Prize 2020 for his debut novel Shuggie Bain. The autobiographical novel is about a lonely gay son of an alcoholic mother coming of age in 1980s Glasgow, Scotland. 

2.(a) Renu Devi
Renu Devi has become the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. She was sworn in along with Tarkishore Prasad as new Bihar deputy CMs on November 16, 2020 at the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Renu Devi won the Bihar Polls 2020 from the Bettiah constituency. 

3.(a) Jitan Ram Manjhi 
Former Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi was on November 19, 2020 sworn in as pro-tem speaker of the newly elected 17th Bihar Legislative Assembly. Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan administered him the oath of office at Rajbhavan in Patna.

The Union Government has released a five-year action plan for the conservation of vultures. The step has been taken in light of a substantial decline in the population of vultures in India. Vultures are nature’s scavengers that feed on the animal carcasses, keeping the surrounding clean.

Asia’s first solar-powered Textile Mill in Asia will come up in the Parbhani district, Maharashtra. The Jai Bhawani women's cooperative textile mill will become the first Solar Power enabled textile mill in Asia.

India has been handed the hosting rights for FIFA  U-17 Women’s World Cup 2022. The decision was taken after FIFA Council canceled the U-17 Women’s World Cup 2021, which was scheduled to take place in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The England team will make their first visit to Pakistan in 2021, for the first time in 16 years. Pakistan will be hosting host England for two T20Is in Karachi on October 14 and 15, 2021 ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in India. England had last toured Pakistan in 2005 when they had played five ODIs and three Tests.
