Taylor Swift has been named by TIME as the TIME Person of the Year 2023. With this great achievement, Swift touches the feat of becoming the first woman to appear twice as the TIME Person of the Year since the beginning of the franchise in the year 1927.
Earlier, it was in 2017 when Swift appeared as the Person of the Year cover for the very first time. This was the time when she came into the light as one of the Silence Breakers (a group identified by Time magazine as essential to the #MeToo movement. The group encouraged women to be vocal about sexual misconduct.)

With so many successful stage shows and movie theatres turning into concert halls in 2023, it should definitely be outstanding news, but not a surprise for Swift's fans.
The Eras tour of Swift which started on March 17, 2023, and will end in December 2024 comprises a total of 66 dates across the United States this year. It is projected that Swift's Eras tour is going to actually become the biggest of all time. It is also projected that the tour is going to be the first ever to gross over a billion dollars. The economic success of the tour and Swift's marketing skills have given birth to a playful term 'Swiftonomics".
The summer was also successful for Swift with two great shows in Colorado which brought a significant $ 186.9 million boost to the GDP of the US for 2023. Additionally, Swift performed three successful shows in the month of May, and that also brought a similar boost.
An estimate also states that Swift's tour alone is capable of generating over $4.6 billion for the economy of the U.S.
Initially, Canada was left off the schedule. However, later, Swift declared that she was adding stops in Vancouver and Toronto to the schedule too.
Controversies surrounding the tour
A 23-year-old Ana Ckara Benevides Machado was a fan of Swift who attended her concert in Brazil in November. Unfortunately, the fan collapsed at the concert and passed away shortly in a hospital. As of now, the cause of her death is not confirmed.
There have been claims that fans attending Swift's show were not permitted to carry water bottles into the stadium. This comes at a time when a majority of Brazil saw record-breaking temperatures.

Movie theatres weren't just for movies this year
The year saw writers strike for months, but that did not stop people from entering movie theatres, as Swift turned empty movie theatres into concert halls bustling with excited fans. This was done after the release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, Swift's concert film. Swift was the producer of the film as well.
Swift made a deal with AMC, which led the theatre chain to get its highest single-day ticket sales ever.
