CAT Registrations: As per the data received 244,169 have filled the applications for CAT 2019. IIM Kozhikode, the conducting body of CAT 2019 concluded the application process for CAT 2019 on September 25, 2019. Compared to the applications received in 2018, there has been an increase of 3831 more applications this year. In 2018, a total of 2, 40, 338 candidates registered for the CAT 2019 examination.
From 2014 onwards a continuous rise in the total number of candidates who have registered for CAT can be seen.

As per media reports, one of the main reasons for the increase in the total number of candidates who have registered for CAT 2019 is due to the increase in the number of IIM’s across the country. The brand of IIM still continues to attract a lot of students in spite of the slowdown witness across the world.
The placement trends at the IIMs have also increased sighting that a large number of companies are making their way to these institutions and there has been a 100 percent placement. Students thus seek job security after the students acquired a management degree from these institutions and due to this more students look into the IIMs.
Experts from the industry have also stated that more candidates who are working in the sector and the industries which are witnessing a slowdown wish to arm themselves with an MBA degree. The aim of these students is to take advantage of their education once there is a revival and hence this is an opportunity for the students.
