Maharashtra School Reopening Update: With schools in Maharashtra slate to reopen from today i.e. 24^th January, there is some confusion among the students and parents about the same. As per the order passed by the State Government, local authorities or district-level authorities have been empowered to take final call about reopening of colleges based on the prevailing situation in their jurisdiction.

School Education Minister Reviews Preparedness for School Reopening

Earlier, School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had informed that majority districts in the state have agreed to reopen schools from 24^th January 2022.  Taking to social media platform, Ms Gaikwad informed that "District education officials are in constant touch with collectors and CEOs of respective areas to ensure safe resumption of schools. Directed district administration to take decisions regarding reopening based on local conditions."

Maharashtra School Reopening: District wise Update

. Based on this, several district or local level authorities have finalized school reopening plans for schools under their jurisdiction. While majority of districts seem to have agreed to reopen schools, there are some districts are not reopening schools from today. Mumbai School Reopening Update: According to the formal announcement made by  BMC, Schools in Mumbai are all set to reopen from today i.e. 24^th January 2022. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, BMC has also released detailed set of COVID-19 guidelines and precautionary measures to keep students and teachers safe.

Pune Schools NOT to Reopen: Unlike Mumbai, local authorities in Pune have decided to take a more safe approach and has decided not to reopen Schools in the city and district for now. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday informed that Schools in Pune are not going to open this week. He also added that final decision about reopening of schools will be taken in a review meeting in the coming days.

Thane and Nashik Schools Reopening: Schools in Thane and Nashik will also reopen from today onwards in complete adherence with COVID-19 guidelines. Students who want to attend offline classes will need to carry written consent letter from their parents.

Other Major Districts: Several other districts in Maharashtra have also confirmed reopening of schools from tomorrow or this week. In Jalgaon and Nandurbar districts, schools for students of all classes will resume offline classes from today onwards. On the other hand, Nagpur Schools will reopen from 26^th January whereas Schools in Dhule district will resume physical classes from 27^th January 2022. Similar to Pune, Ahmadnagar has also not announced any final decision about reopening of schools so far.
