Schools and colleges in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai and Tuticorin along with a few other places have been asked to remain closed today, November 30, 2021, as well. Tamil Nadu has been experiencing heavy rainfall in the past week due to which the state government had announced the closure of schools from Monday - November 29, 2021.
List of districts with schools closed
The other districts where schools will remain closed include Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, Nellai, Theni, Dindigul, Cuddalore, and Ramanathapuram while the schools and colleges in Madurai, Tuticorin, Tiruvallur, and Sivagangai districts will remain closed.
According to local reports, Skymet Weather has predicted that a low-pressure area is likely to form and intensify into a potential cyclone of the northeast monsoon which could worsen the situation in the state and neighbouring areas. Reports also suggest that relief can be expected only in a few days.
The Tamil Nadu State Weather Department issued a red alert for 9 districts of the state on November 29, 2021, in Chennai and Kanyakumari after which schools and colleges were shut and a decision on reopening was to be taken by the end of the day.
