Delhi School Reopening: According to the latest updates, Delhi schools will open for offline classes from tomorrow, January 15, 2024. With this, the extended winter break announced due to the prevailing foggy weather conditions will conclude.
As per the official announcement made by the Delhi Government Directorate of Education all students from government, government aided, and recognised private schools will join back for physical classes from January 15, 2023. This also includes Nursery, KG, and primary classes, the notification clarified.
According to the official notification released, no schools including those with double shifts will begin before 9 am. Schools will also not continue classes after 5 pm. The notification further states that teaching and non-teaching staff will be required to report for duty as usual.
Earlier, Delhi Education Minister, Atishi announced that the winter vacations will be extended until January 12, 2024, amidst the ongoing cold wave weather conditions in Delhi.
With the temperature dropping in Delhi and the intensifying fog situation in the morning hours, there was uncertainty on whether the winter vacations would extend in the capital for a few more days.
The temperature in Delhi as of today, was 3.5 degrees while the temperature recorded yesterday was 3.6 degrees. As per the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature recorded today is four notches below the season average. Very dense fog and cold wave conditions have been predicted for the next two days in Delhi while intense fog is expected until January 20, 2024.
School Holidays Extended in Chandigarh
Schools in Chandigarh will remain closed until January 20, 2024. The holiday has been announced for all government schools and colleges amidst the decreasing temperatures and cold wave situation in the region.
