Winter Vacation 2024: School Holidays Extended In Haryana Until January 27 Amidst Cold Weather

Haryana state government has extended school winter vacations for students from classes 1 to 5 until January 27, 2024. Teaching and non-teaching staff members will have to attend school as usual. Students can contact school authorities for further updates.

Haryana Schools Closed: The Haryana state government has announced the holidays for schools for students from classes 1 to 5. The schools will remain closed until January 27, 2024. The decision regarding the school holidays has been made for the government and private schools due to the intense cold weather conditions in the state. The notification however states that the teaching and non-teaching staff will attend school as usual. 

Haryana State Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujar stated that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the unusually cold weather. Schools were reopened in Haryana on January 23, 2023, after 22 days of holiday but have been closed again due to an intense cold wave in the state. 

The Haryana education department has decided to close schools for students of classes 1 to 5 until January 27, 2024, due to the ongoing intense cold wave. The teaching and nonteaching staff members will however continue to attend school as usual. 

The Chandigarh administration has also given students until class 5 an additional week of vacation. Schools can however decide to conduct classes for higher grades only after taking necessary safety measures to prevent students from being harmed by exposure to cold. The official order states that schools are to close by 4 pm and should not open before 9:30 am.

Schools Closed in UP

Due to the hard cold weather, and dense fog conditions, schools in Lucknow and Agra will be closed for students from classes 1 to 8. The district magistrates have issued an order for the closure of schools in Lucknow until January 27 and in Ahgra until Jagran 24, 2024. The order issued has directed that schools will remain closed from nursery to class 12 in Lucknow. Class timings for schools in Agra have changed for students from class 9 to 12. Classes in Ahgra schools will now be held from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm.
