1.94 lakh MBA aspirants appeared for CAT 2013

CAT is an all-India test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs)as an entrance examination for the management programs offered by its business schools (B-schools) as well as other top Master of Business Administration (MBA) schools. Other than the 13 IIMs, more than 100 B-schools in India use CAT scores to grant admission to students into their management courses.

CAT is normally conducted every year during a 21 day testing window (estimate but may vary) in the months of October and November. A candidate can appear for CAT only once during the 20-day testing window. The test score is valid for admission to the forthcoming academic year only.

This year 1,94,516 candidates appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2013). The Scores of CAT exam will be used by the Indian Institutes of Management and other premier B-schools across the country for admissions to management programme each year. Last year 1,91,642 candidates appeared for the test. It was conducted from 16 October 2013 to 11 November 2013 in 40 cities in India, which is an increase from 36 cities in 2012. CAT Results will be announced on 14 January 2014 and it will be available at www.cat2013.iimidr.ac.in. IIM-Indore was the convener of CAT 2013.
For the next academic year, 115 seats are added across 13 IIMs, increasing the total number of seats to 3335.

Candidates shortlisted through CAT 2013 will have to appear for personal interviews, group discussions, written ability tests (WAT) at the IIMs and other MBA colleges accepting CAT scores.
