Examinations are more than numbers; they are a benchmark of your hard work over the academic year. The marks that you get definitely speak loads about your preparation style and intellectual ability making examinations very stressful. Hence students should be aware and commit themselves to these simple tips that would help them to achieve their goal with ease:
Charting out a schedule; and effectively following it
One should always plan out the course of study before actually starting out. This will not only allow him to utilize time to the maximum but also allow him to distribute enough time to each subject material and allocate time for breaks which are equally important. However, one should remember to not just make a time table but effectively follow it to reap its benefits.
Organizing one’s study material
One should always have his study material at hand and available to him round the clock. He should not have to wait till the last moment to collect notes and other important study information. Organizing oneself before studying allows him to focus uninterrupted without being punctuated with disturbances.
Finding a study place
This is perhaps another important aspect which is over looked by many as to find the right study ambience. Most people can concentrate best in quite environments while, for others the environment is not really a matter of much importance. However students should always choose an environment where they can concentrate most and where there are no external distractions like entertainment sets or unwanted noise.
Group studies
Research has shown that studying in a group has had serious positive effects on the learning abilities of students. However one should remember that the group must only involve serious students or else the group might deviate from its actual purpose. Moreover group studies also allow students to compare themselves. Group studies also help in exchanging of ideas, of seeing new perspectives, exchanging of study materials, and deriving motivation.
Taking short breaks
This might be seen by most orthodox students as a negative approach to studying however, taking regular short breaks in-between studying help in retaining information better. It also allows one to rejuvenate and refresh the mind and help retain information more vividly. Short breaks also limit one from day dreaming.
Clearing one’s mind of external thoughts
This is another important aspect that needs to be dealt with before starting out preparations. Sometimes we have a lot going on in our mind. We should take a moment to clear our mind of all pending work and restless thoughts. We should complete any unfinished work which occupies majority of our attention and once our mind is at peace and ready to accept new information then only we should start studying.
Motivation
Motivation is another aspect that fuels us to reach our goals. We must each find our motivation that will help us to study and fuel us to attain our goal. Without a motivation there is a chance of us being diverted or even leaving our goal midway. Hence it is very important to derive motivation to keep us going. However, one should also keep in mind to derive motivation from the right source, this is very important as it affects our shaping of our lives.
Following a healthy lifestyle; sleeping and eating well
This is another aspect that is neglected most by the young generation, in today’s’ competitive world. Here people avoid eating healthy or sleeping right to utilize more time for studies, however this is wrong. Students should nourish themselves properly by getting enough rest and eating properly since the body and the mind need to function well. Eating healthy and sleeping enough will allow the mind to feel fresh and enthusiastic every single day and there will be no trace of fatigue of the previous night.
Exercise
This is another important aspect of our preparation. Though this may be not be related to increasing our knowledge however it indirectly affects the way our minds function. Yoga, meditation and other forms of exercises not only help in keeping the mind and body fit but they also help in providing the much required oxygen to our brains. Exercises in the form of meditation yoga and their effects are useful in the long run.
Start early
For one to effectively complete his syllabus, and leave enough time for revision he should start early. Last minute preparations and overnight cramming does not lead to success in the long run. Moreover an early start definitely gives the student an added advantage of completing all portions of his syllabus leading to an extra boost in confidence.
