On the occasion of International Women's day, students from Mangalayatan University organized a street play at their campus highlighting issues on women’s safety.

Aligarh: On the occasion of International Women's day, students from Mangalayatan University organized a street play at their campus highlighting issues on women’s safety. The street play titled ‘Dastak’ was performed by students of the university which focused on spreading awareness about crimes committed against women. Through the street play, students highlighted social problems and evils that are targeted towards women including female foeticide, acid attacks against girl students and the menace of eve-teasing and misbehaviour.

Dastak – the street play performed by students was directed by Sukanya Raghuvanshi also talked about several cases of exploitation against women in India. On the occasion, Sukanya Raghuvanshi said the key objective of organizing such street plays and making students perform them in person, is to spread awareness and prevent atrocities that are being committed against women in India. She added how such plays empower women and people to speak up against atrocities and exploitation those women go through.

The student participants in the play included Aman, Tanya, Aditya, Lokesh, Manorama, Sakshi, Rohit, Suman, Diksha and Adarsh, all of whom inspired the audiences to speak-up for women’s rights.

Several dignitaries and senior management of Mangalayatan University graced the performance of the street play by the students. The key among them included Univeristy Vice Chancellor Prof. KVSM Krishna, Registrar Ajit Singh, Deputy Registrar Dr. Manoj Rana, Administrative Officer Gopal Rajput, Controller of Examinations Dr. Dinesh Sharma, HR Dr.Ankur Agrawal, Prof. Jayanti Lal Jain, Prof. Arif Sohail, Prof. Shivaji Sarkar, Prof. Vikash Kaushik, Prof. Lal Ratnakar, Dr. RK Sharma, Anubhav Soni, Rajesh Upadhyay, Leena Druva, Shubhankar Roy and Nati Sharma among others.
