Not one to sit on past laurels, GLA University, Mathura keeps on raising the bar for its faculty members and students with regard to providing them with new avenues to explore their talent to the fullest and justify the various awards and accolades which the university has been bestowed with. Taking another monumental step in this regard, the university recently established the “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre for Students” which is meant for providing the students with the life-altering opportunity to be job-creator rather than simply being job-seeker. This centre has been established under the project of the prestigious Department of Science and Technology which aims towards providing self-employment to students through various projects.
The centre was inaugurated, amidst much fanfare, by the Chancellor Shri Narayan Das Agrawal in the presence of Vice-Chancellor Prof D S Chauhan and other dignitaries, faculty and staff members and students. Shri Agrawal informed that the centre is already working on its first project titled, “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre NewGen’ which has a time limit of 5 years. NewGen IEDC Coordintor and Associate Professor Dr Manoj Choubey briefed that the DST has sanctioned a grant of 3 crores for the project of which the initial amount has already been released. Students of various programmes such as B Tech, BBA, BCA, M Tech, MBA and Diploma are working on the project. Every year 20 students would work on the project thus ensuring a new wave of self-employment opportunities in the university.
