Below are the answers for Haryana Board Class 10th Science Question Paper.

1. An electric bulb is rated 220 V and 100 W. When it is operated on 110 V, the power consumed will be:

(A) 100 W

(B) 75 W

(C) 50 W

(D) 25 W

..................... is the small unit of electric power.

English: The small unit of electric power is Watt (W).

Which gas is filled in electric bulbs?

Electric bulbs are usually filled with Argon and Nitrogen gas.

4. The question below consists of two statements: Assertion (A) and Reason (R), answer the question by selecting the appropriate option given below:

Assertion (A): The eyelens has the ability to focus clearly on the retina by

Reason (R): adjusting its focal length.

This phenomenon is known as the power of accommodation.

(A) Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).

(B) Both (A) and (R) are true, but (R) is not the correct explanation of (A).

(C) (A) is true, but (R) is false.

(D) (A) is false, but (R) is true.

5. No matter how far you stand from a mirror, your image appears erect. The mirror is likely to be:

(A) only plane

(B) only concave

(C) only convex

(D) either plane or convex

Why does the sky appear dark instead of blue to an astronaut?

Answer:

In space, there is no atmosphere to scatter sunlight. On Earth, the sky appears blue because air molecules scatter shorter-wavelength blue light more than other colors (Rayleigh scattering). However, in space, due to the absence of air, no scattering occurs, making the sky appear black to astronauts.

How is binary fission different from multiple fission?

Answer:

Binary Fission

Multiple Fission

A single parent cell divides into two daughter cells.

A single parent cell divides into many daughter cells.

It occurs under favorable conditions.

It usually occurs under unfavorable conditions.

Example: Amoeba, Paramecium

Example: Plasmodium (malaria parasite)

Draw magnetic field lines around a bar magnet.

Answer:

Write any two properties of magnetic field lines.

Properties of Magnetic Field Lines:

  1. Magnetic field lines never intersect – If they did, it would mean that a magnetic field has two different directions at the same point, which is impossible.
  2. They emerge from the North Pole and enter the South Pole outside the magnet, forming closed loops. Inside the magnet, they move from the South Pole to the North Pole.

9. Define Ohm's law. State SI unit of resistance. Select the correct equation of resistance in accordance with Ohm's law from the below options:
(A) R = V/I
(B) R = 1/V

Ohm's Law states that the current (I) flowing through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the voltage (V) across the two points, provided the temperature and other physical conditions remain constant. Mathematically,
V=IR
where V is the voltage (in volts), I is the current (in amperes), and R is the resistance (in ohms, Ω).

SI Unit of Resistance:

The SI unit of resistance is Ohm (Ω).

Correct Equation of Resistance:

From Ohm’s Law,

R= V/I

So, the correct option is:
(A) R = V/I
