Indian Army issued notification for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) to 200 officers in the Army Medical Corps. Interested eligible candidates can send their applications in the prescribed format till 28 February 2013.

Name of the Post: Short Service Commission Officer
Number of Vacancies: 200 posts
Age Limit (as on 31 December 2013): 45 years.
Educational Qualification: Medical qualification included in First / Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule of IMC Act 1956.
Applicant must have permanent registration from any State Medical Council / MCI.
Post graduate degree holders – MD / MS / M.Ch / DM can also apply.
Application Fee: An application fee of Rs.200 has to be paid through crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of ‘Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (APF Fund)’ and payable at ‘New Delhi’.
Pay scale: Doctors on commissioning in the Armed Forces Medical Services will be granted the rank of Captain (or equivalent rank in Navy / Air Force) in the scale of Rs.17160-39100 plus Grade pay of Rs.6100 plus Military Service Pay (MSP) of Rs.6000, Non-practicing allowance at the rate of 25% of the Basic Pay (Pay + Grade Pay + MSP) and Dearness Allowance. Total emolument at minimum of Pay Scale at the time of joining will be approximately Rs.70000 pm.
PG degree holder will be eligible for PG allowance of Rs 1000 pm or specialist pay after undergoing the laid down procedure.
Selection Procedure: Final selection would be done on the basis if candidates’ performance in Interview.
The Interview will be held in April-May at Army Hospital (Research & Referral) New Delhi to assess candidates’ suitability and merit for grant of Short Service Commission in the Armed Forces Medical Services.
Candidates qualifying the interview will be produced before a duly constituted Medical Board by DGAFMS for examining their medical fitness as per laid down standards.
Travel Allowance: Candidates appearing for interview for the first time will be paid to and fro sleeper-class railway / bus fare.
Tenure:
For Fresh Candidates: The tenure of SSC officers is of 5 years, extendable by 9 years in two spells first of 5 years and second of 4 years.
For Ex AMC candidates: Candidates released from AMC service on expiry of initial contractual period of five years will only be considered for grant of recommission in AMC for second tenure.
On grant of commission, candidate is liable to be employed as per service requirement in any part of country / abroad, in Army / Navy / Air Force. They may have to work independently in the units allotted to them.
How to Apply: Interested candidates can send their applications in the prescribed format along with copies of all relevant certificates and fee DD to ‘The Office of the Director General, Armed Forces Medical Services / DG-1A, Ministry of Defence, M-Block, Room no. 60, Church Road, New Delhi- 110 001’, so as to reach the given address on or before 28 February 2013.
Note: Applicants who have taken more than two chances in final MBBS Examination need not apply.
Candidates who will be completing internship by 31 March 2013 can also apply.
One envelope should contain only one application.
Applications of candidates who send more than one application will also be rejected.
