Few Sample Question from this Chapter are given below:

    Q. What does the writer mean by 'the fiery misery' of those subjected to make-up?

Ans. The writer describes the pain and trouble faced by the actors in the make-up room as the ‘fiery misery’, because the heat produced by the flashing lights in the make–up room were totally unbearable.

    Q. What is the example of national integration that the author refers to?

Ans. The make-up department of Gemini Studios boasted of people belonging to all religions, castes and communities. It was headed by a Bengali and subsequently by a Maharashtrian, an Andhraite, a Christian, a Tamil and an Anglo-Burmese. The writer terms this phenomenon in the Gemini Studios as national integration.

    Q. What work did the 'office boy' do in the Gemini Studios? Why did he join the studios? Why was he disappointed?

Ans. The office boy’s work included the make-up of the players who played with the crowd. On the days of crowd-shooting, one could see him mixing his paint in a giant vessel and "slapping it" on the crowd players. He was in his early forties, but he had joined the studio years ago in the hope of becoming a star actor or a top screenwriter, director or lyrics writer.

The office boy was also a poet and he deeply felt that his talent was not being recognised. He was doing a job which was much below his actual calibre. This became the reason for his disappointment.
