1. One Nation, One Election

The recommendations of the High-Level Committee Report on Simultaneous Elections in India were accepted by the Union Cabinet on 18th September 2024. It has been marked as a significant step towards electoral reform. However the concept of simultaneous elections is not a new idea in India.

  • A High-Level Committee on Simultaneous Elections was constituted by the Government of India on 2nd September 2023 headed by former President Ram Nath Kovind.
  • The Committee received over 21,500 responses, with 80% in favour of simultaneous elections.
  • The elections to the Lok Sabha and all State Legislative Assemblies were conducted simultaneously from 1951 to 1967 across the country.
  • Apart from the 1951-52, the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies were held together for three subsequent general elections in 1957, 1962, and 1967.

2. Agnibaan: To Revolutionize India's Space Ecosystem

The Ministry of Science & Technology has announced its support for M/s Agnikul Cosmos Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, to develop and commercialize “Agnibaan”-a two-stage launch vehicle.

  • "Agnibaan,” is capable of delivering payloads of upto 300 kg to orbits at 700 km altitude.

3. 5th CII International Energy Conference and Exhibition

The 5th CII International Energy Conference and Exhibition (IECE) was conducted at New Delhi. Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi addressed the conference and displayed Union Government's Points.

4. India: The 3rd largest exporter of smartphones in world

In a major achievement, India has become the 3rd largest exporter of smartphones in the world.
Highlights

  • India was on the 23rd rank in 2019 in exporting of smartphones in the world.
  • Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw has termed this achievement as ‘Making Bharat Story’.

5. PM laid foundation stone worth Rs 46,300 crore Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of 24 projects worth Rs 46,300 crore in Jaipur. These projects are related to various fields including power, road, railway and water.

  • Prime Minister Modi inaugurated 9 projects worth more than Rs 11,000 crore.
  • Out of 09 projects, 7 projects of the Central Government and rest 2 projects of the State Government.
  • The Prime Minister's trip was part of a function to celebrate the completion of one year of the Bhajan Lal Sharma government in Rajasthan.
