The personnel officer in a bank is responsible for human resources activities. The job function of a personnel officer could revolve around posting or transfer of employees, arranging training programmes, designing perks, conducting promotional exercises, retirement benefit disbursal and supervising the performance of staff. Talking on recruitment of personnel officer, they are recruited via competitive exam conducted at national level. Some banks consider IBPS score, while banks like SBI have their own examination for this recruitment. The number of vacancies offered by all the PSUs is very less. It could be less than 50 jobs in a year.
Management trainee is yet another option available for MBA Freshers. PSUs offer vacancies in different departments such as finance, operations, HR etc. A management trainee is a person who undergoes training for supervisory or managerial positions. Criteria are again either based on merit or on entrance, which could be conducted by few PSUs.
Some of the PSUs which offer management trainee jobs are National Projects Construction Corporation Limited, Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Limited, Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Dredging Corporation of India Limited etc. Some of these may ask for a year or two's experience as well. The number of vacancies offered in total is not too less. It could rise to even a thousand in a year in some cases.
As the name suggests, a general manager is a person who is responsible for taking care of both the revenue and cost elements of the profit or loss statement. The PSUs that might offer general manager post are National Dairy Development Board(NDDB), Odhisha Mining Corporation OMC, State Trading Corporation of India, National Small Industries Corporation Ltd, BSNL, IFCI Ltd, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), etc. Number of vacancies vary from time to time.
