UGC Fellowships to be Reviewed by a New Panel

    The University Grants Commission (UGC) Fellowships would now be reviewed by a five member committee that was constituted by the Union HRD Ministry. The fellowships that would be reviewed by the new constituted panel are National Eligibility Test (NET) based junior research fellowship and non-NET ones provided by the UGC.

    According to a statement issued by the Ministry of HRD it said, “We are in process of reviewing the current research framework, efforts, opportunities, quality and output.” The committee is supposed to submit its report by the month of December this year.

    The five member committee would be headed by the ex-Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati Director, Gautam Barua. Among the other members Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Central University Syde Bari, Central University of Himachal Pradesh Vice Chancellor Kuldeep Agnihotri and Karnataka State Women’s University Vice Chancellor Meena Rajiv Chandawarkar would be at the committee taking decisions.
