What is the Eligibility Criteria for Bank PO, Bank Clerk and Specialist Officers?

Banking jobs have been consistent for the last few years and every year lakhs of candidates are trying their mettle to get into the sector. The job security, good salary package and promise of a good future are some of the luring aspects for which candidates are applying for the banking jobs. The situation and position of banking sector amidst this financial tumultuous market economy is quite stable and thus it has created many opportunities over the years. Banking sector has expanded vastly in the last 10 years and thousands of new branches and ATM services have been opened in the last decade.

This change in banking scenario has resulted in huge vacancies around the country. With increasing number of schemes, house loans, car loans, insurance inclusion in banks and many other such initiatives manpower is getting felt for the industry and thus the recruitments are being made. IBPS, SBI and RBI are the bodies that recruit banking candidates annually by taking written examination and personal interview. Upon selection the candidates are placed in Probationary Officer, clerical cadre or specialist officer posts.

Eligibility Criteria for Bank PO

Bank Probationary Officer is responsible for conducting the official banking work on a day to day basis. Candidates applying for this post have to be a Graduate Degree holder in any stream. There is no need to be a student of commerce or Mathematics to be able to apply for the post. Instead the candidates need to undergo written examination that contains papers like General Awareness, English Language, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and Computer Knowledge. Hence, they need to prepare themselves for these papers on a regular basis with a well chalked out preparation plan. Knowledge of computer and its attributes is a must to apply for the post as the candidates after selection have to carry forward most of the work through computers.

Eligibility Criteria for Bank Clerks

Like Probationary Officers, candidates applying for clerical posts also need to have a Graduation Degree in any stream from any recognized university/institute. The level of written examination though is lower than the probationary officers. Candidates are selected via three tier examination system consisting of Prelims and Mains written examination and personal interview. Clerical candidates should also have knowledge of computers and its applications in a basic level.

Eligibility Criteria for Specialist Officers

Apart from Probationary Officer and Clerical cadres there are recruitments for Specialist officers as well that are made on periodic basis by many nationalized banks. Posts like IT Officer, Field Officer, Law Officer, HR/Personnel or Management Officer, Marketing Officer, Sales Officer etc. are some of the examples of Specialist Officers that get recruited in nationalized as well as private banks over the country. The Candidates opting for these posts must have Graduate and Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in relevant filed along with certain experience in the relevant filed.
