The State Government of Maharashtra on 20 June 2013 made possession of Aadhaar Card mandatory for teaching and non-teaching employees to draw salaries from August.
The Chief Minister of the Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan quoted “UID number is mandatory for teaching and non-teaching employees to draw their monthly salaries".
The decision of the state government came after a review meet held on Aadhaar Card Registration between the Chief Minister with the UIDAI Chairman Nandan Nilekani, Chief Secretary of Maharashtra JK Banthia and other senior officials of the state government.
