Additional Money Granted for Akash and LCA

Defence Minister A K Antony on 2 Feb 2010 announced that an additional Rs 4000 crore would be given for Akash missiles for the Army and Rs 8000 crore for the Light Combat Aircraft programme’s naval and air versions.

Defence Minister A K Antony on 2 Feb 2010 announced that an additional Rs 4000 crore would be given for Akash missiles for the Army and Rs 8000 crore for the Light Combat Aircraft programme’s naval and air versions. The Defence Acquisition Council had on 1 Feb 2010 permitted the procurement procurement of six more squadrons of Akash missiles to add to existing two.
