Naidu’s Decision on State Capital
Even before forming the government, Chandrababu Naidu came into action. CM Naidu rejected the concept put up by his opponent and former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of forming three capitals in the state. He said that Amaravati would be the only capital of the state and that there was no room for three capitals.
“However, we shall develop Visakhapatnam as the financial capital and the most modern city. At the same time, we shall also focus on the development of Kurnool in the Rayalaseema region on all fronts,” he added further.
As part of the NDA, Pawan Kalyan's JSP, the BJP, and Naidu's TDP contested the state assembly as well as the Lok Sabha elections. In the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, the alliance won 164 out of 175 seats. The JSP and BJP secured 21 and 8 seats, respectively, while the TDP secured 135 seats.
