Delhi Govt Launches Sanjeevani Yojana: Free Healthcare for Elderly People

AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal announced the Sanjeevani Yojana on Wednesday, a scheme offering free healthcare for senior citizens aged 60 and above. The initiative is seen as AAP’s key promise ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections in early 2025.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal announced the Sanjeevani Yojana on Wednesday, a scheme providing free healthcare to senior citizens aged 60 and above. The announcement comes as part of a pre-election promise ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections in early 2025.

The former chief minister further stated, "We will implement this plan following the Delhi Assembly elections. The program is available to anyone at both government and private hospitals, according to the announcement made by AAP.

What is Sanjeevani Yojana?

According to Kejriwal, the program is an essential component of the AAP's goal to put the care of the elderly first. The program will be launched after the Delhi Assembly elections, which are set for early 2025, he said. The initiative will ensure that all older citizens have access to healthcare by covering treatment in both government and private hospitals.

Kejriwal’s Women-Centric Move for Elections

The Mahila Samman Yojana, which would provide qualified women in the nation's capital with ₹1,000 per month, was approved by the Delhi cabinet on December 12.

According to Kejriwal, if the AAP wins back power in the next elections, the ₹1,000 aid that would be distributed under Mahila Samman Yojana will be enhanced to ₹2,100.

Delhi Elections 2025 Date 

It is anticipated that the 70-member Delhi legislature will hold elections in February of the following year. The dates have not yet been made public by the Indian Election Commission.

The current Delhi assembly's tenure ends on February 23, 2025.
