Indonesia on 5 April 2011 offered to help the Bihar Government by providing electricity for its power plant projects in the State. Bihar requires coal for its power plants and Indonesia agreed to supply coal. The agreement was finalised during a meeting between Indonesian Ambassador to India, Andi M Ghalib and the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Indonesia also offered to assist Bihar in the agriculture sector. Indonesia is rich in natural resources like copper, coal and wood. It has ancient ties with Bihar dating back to the days of Nalanda University.
