Justice Vineet Saran appointed as the new Chief Justice of Orissa High Court

Vineet SaranPresident Pranab Mukherjee on 22 February 2016 appointed Justice Vineet Saran as the new Chief Justice of Orissa (Odisha) High Court. He will take oath on 26 February 2016.

Prior to this appointment, Justice Saran was working as a senior judge of Karnataka High Court.

The post of Orissa (Odisha) Chief Justice was vacant since 15 February 2016 as Justice D H Waghela was transferred be the Chief Justice of Bombay High Court.

Justice Pradeep K. Mohanty is officiating as Acting CJ here since then.

About Justice Vineet Saran

• He was born on 11 May 1957 and graduated from Allahabad University in 1976 and obtained LL.B in 1979.

• He was enrolled as an advocate with the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council in July 1980 and

• He practiced as an advocate in Allahabad High Court until he was promoted as a permanent judge of the Allahabad High Court on 14 February 2002.

• He was transferred to Karnataka in the same capacity on 16 February 2015.
