Today marks the start of Parliament's winter session, during which a number of proposals, including the Waqf Act (Amendment) Bill, are anticipated to be addressed during this winter session.
The Winter Session of Parliament has started, with three important bills set to be discussed. But soon after the sessions of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha were adjourned due to opposition benches' sloganeering.
Bills to be Discussed this Winter Session
The session will continue until December 20, with several key bills scheduled for introduction, discussion, and approval. These include:
- Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill
- Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak
- Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill
- Readjustment of Representation of Scheduled Tribes in Assembly Constituencies of Goa Bill
- Bills of Lading Bill
- Carriage of Goods by Sea Bill
- Railways (Amendment) Bill
- Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill
- Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill
Opposition’s Plan for Winter Session
The floor leaders of the INDIA bloc parties will meet at 10 a.m. at Parliament House to plan their strategy before the session starts, ANI reported.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, is expected to lead the Opposition's strategy for the session.
The Congress and other opposition parties are likely to bring up issues such as the Waqf Bill, the Manipur situation, and bribery allegations against the Adani Group.
Government Seeks Support From Opposition
Under the direction of Rajnath Singh, the minister of defense, the government met with the floor leaders of all major parties on Sunday. According to a government statement, Kiren Rijiju, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, asked all party leaders for support and collaboration in order to ensure that the two Houses of Parliament run smoothly.
It is anticipated that the Winter Session would go until December 20. The Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill and the Waqf Amendment Bill are two of the bills that are probably going to be discussed during this session.
No Session on Constitution Day
According to an announcement, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will not meet on November 26 in observance of "Constitution Day."
