Riley B. King, the king of blues, passed away on 14 May 2015 in his sleep in Las Vegas. He was 89. He was known by his stage name B B King.
He was an American blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He was known for his hits Lucille, Sweet Little Angel and Rock Me Baby. He is considered one of the most influential blues musicians of all time, earning the nickname The King of Blues.
King began performing in the 1940s, going on to influence a generation of musicians, and working with Eric Clapton and U2.
He was ranked as the third greatest guitarist of all time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003 and at no. 6 in 2011 list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. He was also ranked No. 17 in Gibson's Top 50 Guitarists of All Time.
He was born in Mississippi. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. He was also inducted into 2014 class of the R&B Music Hall of Fame.
