Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan passed away on October 8, 2020 at the age of 74. He was sufffering from a prolonged illness. Paswan's death came as another shock for Indian politics, following the demise of Ex-President Pranab Mukherjee. Paswan served as the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

World Food Programme wins Nobel Peace Prize 2020

BRICS Bank grants approval to USD 741 million for Rapid Rail & Mumbai Metro

BRICS Bank, also known as New Development Bank, approved USD 741 million funds for Delhi-Meerut Rapid Rail and Mumbai metro projects. Of this total amount, USD 500 million have been allocated for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) Project and USD 241 million have been allocated for Mumbai Metro Rail Project.

RBI keeps policy repo rate unchanged at 4%

Reserve Bank of India in its Bi-Monthly Monetary Policy review kept the policy Repo Rate unchanged at 4%, while maintaining the accommodative stance. Consequently, the Marginal Standing Facility (MSF) rate and Bank rate remain unchanged at 4.25%.

Delhi government permits restaurants to open 24x7

Delhi government has permitted the restaurants open 24*7 and approves doing away with the requirement of tourism licenses. The move comes as a major relief to the city restaurants amid COVID-19 pandemic.
