Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das today announced the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) decision on key interest rates. RBI has not made any change in the repo rate for the seventh consecutive time and it has been kept at 6.50 percent. The Monetary Policy Committee of RBI has taken the decision on the policy rate with a majority of 5:1.

2. (c) Rakesh Mohan

The World Bank Group has recently appointed former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Rakesh Mohan, as a member of the Economic Advisory Panel. New Delhi-based think tank Centre for Social and Economic Progress (CSEP) has given this information. Currently, Mohan is also a part-time member of the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council.

SJVN Limited has won two prestigious awards at the 15th CIDC Vishwakarma Awards 2024 instituted by the Construction Industry Development Council. SJVN was awarded the 'Achievement Award for Creating Social Development and Impact' and the 'CIDC Partners in Progress Trophy'.

The state-owned Paradip Port in Odisha is set to become India's largest major port in terms of cargo volume with a cargo throughput of 145.38 million tonnes in FY24. In this matter, the port has left behind Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat.

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi was sworn in for his third term as President of Egypt. President Sisi won the presidential election held in December 2023 with 88.6% of the votes. With this, Al-Sisi will remain the President of the third most populous country in the Arab region till the year 2030.

India's young chess player Arjun Erigaisi has become India's top ranked chess player. With a standard rating of 2756, Erigassi is ranked ninth in the world. In this matter, he has left behind five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand. After 21-year-old Arjun, the second Indian ranked in the FIDE rankings is Vishwanathan Anand.

7. (a) Maritime security

The Indian Navy has launched 'Operation Sankalp' in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman with an aim to ensure the safety of Indian ships. Operation Sankalp of the Indian Navy, launched in response to the increasing tension in the maritime domain, is a successful effort.

8. (b) Judith Suminwa Tuluka

The African country Congo has appointed Judith Suminwa Tuluka as the country's first woman Prime Minister. Tuluka's appointment comes at a time when there is tension in the area bordering Rwanda. Congo is a Central African country whose capital is Kinshasa.     

9. (a) MS Dhoni

Legendary Indian wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has become the first Indian wicketkeeper to score 7,000 runs in T20 cricket. Dhoni achieved this feat against Delhi Capitals (DC) in the IPL. The record for most runs as a wicketkeeper-batsman is held by South Africa's Quinton de Kock, who has scored 8,578 runs so far.      

10. (c) Shefali B.

Shefali B. as Principal Director General of Press Information Bureau (PIB). Sharan has assumed charge. Sharan is a 1990 batch officer of the Indian Information Service. PIB is the nodal agency of the Government of India for disseminating information in the print and electronic media, including government policies.
